Project Description

Working in close conjunction with his sponsoring company TWI Ltd, Erik’s work focuses on the development of novel composite systems for orthopaedic applications. The broad nature of his project means Erik has experience working with a range of ceramics (Calcium Sulphate, Calcium Phosphates) and Polymers (PEEK, PMMA) and enhancing their clinical application in the repair of hard tissues. Erik involves a lot of chemistry in his work from the functionalization of material surfaces to characterising products synthesised in the lab.

Personal Description

Erik joined the Tissue Regeneration and Interface Lab in 2012 having completed a dual honours degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Keele University. Bringing his experience from both of his degree subjects, he chose to join the Grover group to work on the development of orthopaedic materials. Outside of work, Erik is a keen runner (10K and half marathon) and cyclist. He is also a keen traveller whether it is for leisure or work conferences!
